Lower your bills: call scripts

Pick a bill. Get a word-for-word script for the call, and what to do after. Polite and simple: it works more often than people think.

Call script

Internet or cable

Tip: Call the "cancel" or "retention" line. They can offer deals the regular line can't.

  1. "Hi, I've been a customer for [years]. My bill is now $[amount], and that's more than I can keep paying."
  2. "I'm looking at other options in my area. Before I decide, what can you do to lower my monthly price?"
  3. "Are there any current promotions, or a cheaper plan with the speed I actually use?"
  4. If the answer is no: "Thanks. Can you transfer me to the department that handles cancellations?"

After the call: Write down the new price, how long it lasts and the rep's name. Set a reminder a month before the deal ends.
